BERNI MUDIE – TIME TO CHANGE CHAMPION AND FORMER HEAD OF ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT FOR WORK AND PENSIONS

We often hear the word burnout being thrown around workplaces and through overuse, we may have forgotten how serious it really can be. Berni’s career at the DWP was highly pressurised and demanding. Stress levels rose over the years but Berni continued to plough through the workloads at the expense of her mental health. The stress took it’s toll and led to other issues which became so serious that Berni chose to give up her job. It took a lot for Berni to recover and the experience was enough to motivate her to help prevent others becoming burnt out. Berni is now a Time to Change Champion and spends much of her time raising awareness of mental health issues and using her own experiences to support mentally unwell employees.
